I watched the entire first season of Prisoners of War within 24 hours. I saw the commercials for it on Hulu and was very intrigued, but when I heard that Homeland, which I’ve never seen, was based on this ongoing Israeli drama, I was sucked in since original foreign works are usually better and nuanced. It is a thriller in surface only-the real challenge is in the complex & warring emotions of the huge cast of characters set in a tumultuous area. I am curious how Middle Eastern viewers who are not Jewish feel about this series since it plays on an us versus them cultural dynamic. It is a soap opera with epic & mythic political & ethical story lines.
