Where to Watch

Thank you God for Terry Gilliam! After tolerating fair imitations like Delicatessan and Hotel Splendide and hating most of The Congress, I was relieved to discover that I still enjoyed the real deal Terry Gilliam: The Zero Theorem! The Zero Theorem’s central question is whether or not life is meaningless. Hint: it is only meaningless without human connections so if you only search for meaning, it will be meaningless. Only Gilliam can create a vibrant dystopian world that feels like a live action cartoon with the sobriety of existential angst and the layered weight of visual history without being heavy-handed, losing narrative momentum or hurting character development. Gilliam wisely chose Christoph Waltz to walk the tight rope between intellectual pursuits and emotional resonance. The Zero Theorem will require your complete attention so turn off the light, let yourself get sucked in & don’t go balmy.
