Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is an epic disappointment. State secrets are the veneer, but really about the games that men play on the larger stage when they are unable to have fulfilling relationships or express emotions. Really a melodrama about a man who fails to have a satisfying relationship with his wife and struggles with betrayal served at the hands of his wife and his friends, ahem, colleagues. Office politics taken at the international level are really domestic politics taken at the office level. Yawn. Or how to take the greatest set of British actors and leach away any ounce of attractiveness as possible. Do not even get me started on the stereotype of the treacherous gay man!
