There is something magnificent about Season of the Witch being inspired by The Seventh Seal and (probably & hopefully) unintentionally reinterpreting it into a B film. It is so American/Hollywood. Instead of Max von Syndow, we get Nicholas Cage, which I still enjoy watching though his career is clearly devoted to paying bills and remaining solvent. Instead of Death, we get supernatural villains who usually use vulgar, explicitly murderous ways of killing people. The blue screen is so noticeable that it should be credited as a character. There is little to no attempt at any period or location authenticity yet it warmed my heart. It hit every supernatural trope towards the end of the film. At least this mediocre film was spawned by excellent film consumption. I really enjoyed watching Season of the Witch as a guilty pleasure. And I really need to rewatch The Seventh Seal-in my queue!
