The promotional material for Romulus, My Father shouldn’t have faces, just the stark, barren countryside. Opposite of a feel-good movie AND I have a feeling that I didn’t even get most of it because reference a time, place & culture that I am unfamiliar with or the editing was a mess. Strong acting & now I really want to read the memoir just to understand what happened. Critics say that Romulus, My Father is quintessential Australian movie. Oh dear! Why does music seem so taboo in this movie? I don’t get this movie! Something got lost in translation from the page to the screen for me OR I chose the wrong time to see this movie. Chickens buried alive. Eggs cooked in urine. Blowing on bees.
