If you want to see real sexual chemistry, see Ossessione. If you want to see explicit sex, see The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981). Jessica Lange may be the most convincing Cora since Ossessione. Her desperation to be something more than a wife or a sex object & her desire to work hard shines through despite a lazy narrative that uses explicit sex to say: “See they want each other” as opposed to acting as if they wanted each other. My opinion of sex & musical numbers in movies/television shows is the same. Here is a quote from Salon regarding Judy Garland in A Star Is Born: “Garland’s not just interrupting her acting to sing; she’s acting while she’s singing, moving the plot along from verse to verse.” Jack Nicholson was lost in this one & only seemed to be getting a handle on his character towards the end.
