Where to Watch

I would highly suggest seeing Poetry in one sitting or on the big screen if you ever have the privilege to do so. It is a meditative examination of how tragedy leaves so many things seemingly untouched and beautiful, but if one watches closely and sympathetically, the cracks are heartbreaking and become enormous fissures though subtle. Please ignore the description below and just let the movie take you on this journey. The film almost has a Biblical perspective on pain by following the voiceless and powerless and letting them tell the story of the pain and the understandable, imperfect conflict and actions of the heroine in this film, an elderly woman raising her grandson. The film exposes in a subtle manner the gender differences in dealing with the tragedy: speechless horror and incessant, quiet outrage versus not treating it like a daily occurrence to be handled not mourned and repented.
