I know that it says more about me than A Night at the Opera that I thought it was a bit slow & the parts didn’t quite match the whole. It had some great stand-alone bits such as the classic stateroom and contract scenes, but the conventional Hollywood romance and competition for the spotlight story lines felt tagged on to the Marx Brothers’ story. Also some of the costars seemed like they were barely suppressing their laughter. Nice to see some truly old school routines, but was occasionally distracted and found myself nodding off.
