The Grey must be amazing on the big screen & loses something in translation on a smaller screen because of lack of scope & doesn’t require undivided attention. Man fights the elements & wolves with a dash of inner despair & struggle, but I just kept thinking, “Liam Neeson is huge. He’s like a wall. How does he move without being immediately exhausted.” In the movie, a guy actually screams at him in a derisive manner, “You big Irish f***,” & I was thinking, “But that’s a fact, not an insult.” With that said, he has an amazing voice & could probably read the back of a ketchup packet with a suitable amount of gravity. There are some amazing moments about why people decide to keep going or give up & the nature of death & its intersection with peace & love. There is also a necessary nod to Alive! I wasn’t too pleased with the ending, which makes me more mainstream than I would like, but there it is.
