Where to Watch

I really loved The Lair of the White Worm so I thought that I would love Ken Russell’s Gothic. Gothic has an amazing cast in order of my favorites: Natasha Richardson as Mary Shelley and Gabriel Byrne as Lord Byron. If I am charitable, Gothic is a movie that depicts the interior, psychological horror faced by a group of writers during one historical night. If I am ruthless, it is a cautionary tale to not do drugs, especially with people who have vivid imaginations. You’ll be chasing them around all night to make sure that they don’t cause irreparable damage to themselves or others. Despite all the Sturm und Drang, Gothic failed to move me or convey authentic emotion.
