Where to Watch

I keep hearing that The Apartment is one of the greatest comedies of all times? Comedy?!? The Apartment is a classic certainly, but a comedy never though The Apartment tries to use laughs to hide its angry heart. The Apartment is angry at the exploitation of workers, women and the ethnic minority featured in the film, Jewish people, and the hypocrisy of the elite Protestant white male class who use words of love or commodification to get what they want while suffering no damage to their image or pocket. The Apartment is about the struggle for the soul of its two main characters. Jack Lemmon is indicted as an accomplice as part of this conspiracy-his victimization by the system does not exempt him as long as he wants to be a part of it. The Apartment is another example of how classic Hollywood never flinched from dealing with all the thorny issues surrounding sex while not explicitly depicting it. I think that The Apartment’s approach wins because it keeps the story moving whereas explicit depiction while realistic in another way freezes the story in place until it ends. The Apartment is a must see. ‪#‎yesallwomen‬
