Where to Watch

The Conquest is so utterly & completely unsympathetic to Sarkozy while simultaneously mirroring his character as portrayed in the movie. It is always moving, never stopping, like a bull in a china shop, filled with self importance and grandiose ambitions while really sobbing because it ultimately lacks revelation despite incessant examination & scrutiny; thus revealing that there is not much heart at the center of all that desperate movement. A completely un-French film in its frenetic style & lack of self examination or grand themes (appears that it was actually made in Belgium). At the end of the day, are we really to believe that he did it for the girl? Warning: no Carla Bruni. The film is at its strongest when it juxtaposes the idea of old, traditional France & post-modern France & tries to determine which should win. If Sarkozy is the symbol of the latter, I think the filmmakers deeply want the prior while giving the best lines to the latter.
