Timing is everything. Because of Trayvon Martin’s murder, the film’s marketers were worried about an audience’s reaction. If they marketed The Watch as a sci-fi comedy instead, the movie would have been more successful. The Watch isn’t a masterpiece, but it is funny & even has a nice moral: even if the world’s safety is at stake, help your family first, and everything else will fall into place. Forgettable, but a nice way to pass some time if you like the actors.
