American Gothic is The Stand meets The Kingdom, a Danish series. Around episode 11, CBS made the show more overtly supernatural & shuffled in & out more characters to capture a bigger audience. A great anti-hero, Lucas Buck, occasionally does good by inflicting pain on those who have wronged him, but is largely a manipulative, self-serving being, which makes him a fun character to watch. Sad sack, but deeply heroic Ben was my surprise favorite person to face him because he never momentarily lost his mind & forgot what he was up against unlike the other characters, which could have been CBS’ fault & not the writers.
