The Strain

Sometimes after reading a series of books on the crushing economic forces arrayed against Americans or the international problem of sex trafficking, it is a relief to deal with something like the apocalypse. I am a fan of Guillermo del Toro’s movies, particularly Cronos, real life accounts of humanity’s fight against viruses & vamp stories so The Strain was made for me. Even so, things don’t get interesting until somewhere after page 180. He’s no Bram Stoker-true three dimensional characters are exchanged for facts about characters (divorced, has a kid, rich, etc.), but still a fun read & I look forward to reading the entire Strain trilogy!
