Trapped

Documentary

Director: Dawn Porter

Release Date: January 24, 2016

I am fairly certain that I saw Trapped when it originally was released, but somehow, they got me to watch it again based on my love of watching Charlize Theron basically lose her crap & turn the tables ever so briefly on an aggressor. When will I learn? An elaborate kidnapping scheme so an unsavory couple can force their victims to wife swap for a day under the pretense of wanting money and then in the second act, they try to redeem the whole thing by unconvincingly making the unsavory couple grief-stricken which no one is buying. You don’t go from happy couple to twisted, scheming, rapey individuals because of a friend’s death. Um, and isn’t the doctor, um, kind of too comfortable with torture? I’m not saying that he didn’t have a good reason, but um, yup. There are some screwed up gender dynamic thing going on & I need my feminist film theorists to jot a quick something on this one.
