What is great about Parenthood is that it focuses on all the permutations of parenthood: traditional, but still dealing with 21st century issues (Adam & Kristina), progressive (Julia & Joel), single unmarried parents (Crosby & Jasmine), single divorced parents (Sarah & Seth), traditional parents with adult children (Zeek & Camille).
I love Parenthood, BUT after 3 seasons, the character Sarah is always juggling 2 men. What about her career? Bartender, playwright, college? And Julia’s story line never has a real story line about her job despite her undeniable financial success, but the guys are more diverse: family & work, which is good, but gender roles for women are (accidentally) still rigid.
