I don’t remember the classic that clearly except that Joan Crawford was awesome because she somehow was believable as a self-sacrificing, successful mother. Did anyone else consider while watching this mini-series that the implicit reason that Veda was a monster-sure she was a selfish monster from the start– was because she was possibly sexually abused as a child? Maybe I’m reading too much into Mildred Pierce. At any rate, Mildred Pierce aired on HBO so there will be sex & nudity. With that said, every segment is magnificent and riveting. Every actor is impeccable. The rags to riches to middle class story is believable, historical & lush. Finally a remake that stands on its own.
