Where to Watch

I started watching The Middle in 2010, and it is one of the few shows that I don’t let stay in my Hulu queue for long. This family isn’t special, gifted or even likable at times, but I love it because of the family’s real flaws and the way that they worship. The family finds church boring, a duty and an obstacle to fun. The youngest child, Brick, is an atheist/agnostic. Axl thinks he is a god (not really, but he is a teenage boy). Sue, the middle child, genuinely believes in Jesus and uses her faith to deal with every day problems. The Middle is one of the few shows that represents a type of Christian &/or pastor that I’ve met in real life: Reverend Tim Tom. He doesn’t force his faith on others and is gentle. He can be cheesy and overly cheery. He is a youth minister and isn’t a pedophile. His girlfriend is his perfect match, but they have problems-do they give too much time to the community? Sue goes to Rev. Tim Tom for advice. He takes her problems seriously no matter how silly they are. Everyone is messy, cringe-worthy and human. The Middle is a lovely sitcom with a heart.
