In the Flesh is short & sweet. How I think that it was initially pitched: let’s make a series about the intolerance of a small town to two teens in love with the twist-they are gay, but because we don’t want complaints, lets deal with homophobia and other thorny topics like misogyny by making it about zombies. It really works and reminded me of the French movie, Les Revenants, which apparently has become a tv series as well, except because the British are our ideological parents, the zombies are more traditional (at least initially) and there are guns & violence instead of only a meditative examination of death and life. I look forward to the second season.
