Where to Watch

Burn is a documentary about Detroit firefighters who are underfunded, but have an insane amount of work in comparison to other areas. It looks at their lives at home and work, the worst case scenario, and the glorious pride in their camaraderie and fearlessness. There is also implicit commentary that a once great city has been murdered by business and now neglected by government. I grant that the following statement may make me sound like a crazy conspiracy theorist. Burn was one of the few documentaries where black and white people are casually and happily together because it is part of daily life, and race is never remarked. Is that a factor why Detroit was destroyed? Burn shows that Detroit finally reached the American ideal of prosperity and equality, and these firemen still live as if that historical achievement was still a reality today.
