If you like fake documentaries and vampires, then you should definitely watch What We Do in the Shadows. I fit into this category, but if I knew then what I know now, I would have happily waited until the movie became available on DVD or streaming instead of paying $9 to see it on the big screen. What We Do in the Shadows is definitely funnier than Vampires, another foreign fake vampire documentary, which was graver and less lovable than this entry from New Zealand. What We Do in the Shadows’ humor is rooted in the awkwardness of having a bunch of male supernatural roommates from different eras. My favorite parts were how erotic and attractive the vampires thought they were, and they really weren’t and everyone’s love of Stu. In every group, there is a Stu whom everyone loves for no discernible reason outside the group.
