I’ve noticed that movies with action heroines usually end up with the plot of saving a child. At times, it is disappointing: Aeon Flux, Elektra. Or not: Ultraviolet, Beatrix Kiddo, Long Kiss Goodnight. Or awesome: Aliens. Underworld: Awakening is kind of meh, but it is a sequel so not unexpected. I’ve been hearing for 3 movies how awesome the hybrid is & I’m still waiting, people, but at least Selene doesn’t disappoint & the continuity with her powers holds. I won’t look forward to future installments, but I’ll probably watch it regardless. I didn’t like the development regarding the lycans & humans, especially since it doesn’t completely make sense, but at least a GoT actor was in the vampire coven. I am sad that Twilight may have influenced the plot in some small way.
