The Prey is about an imprisoned bank robber with trust issues, a release date in sight and hidden treasure. He tries to keep his head down to avoid prison rivalries, former business associates and corrupt prison guards, but he is a nice family guy so he gets caught in the cross fire. He understandably trusts the wrong guy who betrays him soup to nuts. The robber must escape to protect his family while a rising star in the police force tracks him down. Will he get to save his family and stop this man before the police get him?
If Liam Neeson was born in France, he would star in The Prey, which is not an evocative enough title for this film. The Prey is The Fugitive meets Taken (not international, just the French edition) meets Law & Order: SVU meets Prison Break. While it is not a must see film, especially if you hate subtitles, The Prey is an entertaining peek into how even a formulaic film like The Prey can be a satisfying crime action film and not entirely predictable.
French film lovers with a penchant for action films should check out The Prey. Apparently the American remake is in production.
