Where to Watch

I watched The Other Woman for Leslie Mann because I love her unhinged, sweet acerbic delivery, but once a second mistress enters the picture, the movie loses any momentum, and I just wanted it to end. I enjoyed all the financial and psychological ways that they messed with the lout, but drugging a guy and battering him secretly and regularly is only funny theoretically. If The Other Woman had only focused on Cameron Diaz and Mann’s characters’ relationship, i think that could have been a good movie, but it morphs into one of those glossy Hollywood films that bear little to no resemblance to reality with a dash of rom com happiness. Also what a waste of Don Johnson! I tried to pretend that The Other Woman was a sequel to The Sweetest Thing if Diaz’s character didn’t go on that wacky road trip, moved to NYC and lost touch with her CA friends, but even that didn’t help. If you’re stuck somewhere, aren’t sleepy and have nothing else to do, The Other Woman is adequate viewing, but everyone deserved better material. At least they could pay their mortgages.
