Good news: it was nice to get a brief glimpse at the leaders of various countries in South America & get some insight on their views of the US. Bad news: Oliver Stone indicts the media for demonizing Chavez & other leaders then smears Vaseline all over his lens. Also he should stay behind the camera because he was a bit obnoxious. These are leaders & he asks them how to chew leaves, play soccer & how many shoes the one female leader has. Cringe worthy. South of the Border is very ambitious, but I would have preferred a more balanced, PBS approach to the subject matter instead of casting Latin America as an ideal, egalitarian paradise. Also I rolled my eyes when he cast Obama, who is way more fiscally conservative, as similar to the Latin American leaders because they have the same superficial characteristics as their constituents.
