For a theologically perfect retelling of the Biblical Jesus’ story, only watch 1st half hour & last 20 minutes of Son of Man, but this artistically ambitious film falls short in translating the Biblical narrative to modern Africa by making this Jesus overtly political with less emphasis on sin & salvation on a daily level (ex. woman guilty of adultery-“Be at peace” instead of “Sin no more”) thus losing the point of the miracles. Great parallels of conditions in ancient Judea to this fictional African Judea. Loved the paintings throughout the film retelling the miracles.
