Seven Days in Utopia is about a golfer who had a really bad day at the office and has an awful father who ends up stranded in a small-town named Utopia where everyone knows about him and his travails, is a golf expert and is eager to help him reprioritize. I love Robert Duvall like cooked food. I paid money to see Secondhand Lions in the movie theaters. So trust me when I say that Seven Days in Utopia is not worth your time. Instead of an ending, Seven Days in Utopia directs you to a website!!!! I am a Bible believing Christian, sports atheist so if someone had warned me ahead of time that Seven Days in Utopia was based on a self-help book, golf and was really a misguided attempt to get you to convert to Christ, I would have been less surprised at the dreadful result. Seven Days in Utopia isn’t even a good Christian movie like Flywheel or Facing the Giants, which accomplish the same evangelical purpose, but have a good story. I didn’t expect that such a reknown cast would end up in a Christian movie, especially True Blood’s Deborah Ann Woll, who played Jessica, but they did, and it is a waste because there is unfortunately no story to speak of. Also the implicit racial politics made me feel queasy. Skip Seven Days in Utopia, find a Christian therapist and book a 100 minute appointment with that therapist instead of seeing this drivel.
