Where to Watch

Meh. Really wanted to like Against the Ropes, but just…no. 3 stars, but not sure why it didn’t work. What I would give for a documentary about Jackie Kallen! Oh & Netflix app didn’t work AGAIN! TOO FORMULAIC: Hollywood movies always raise someone up, then knocks them down, hero eats humble pie then begrudging acknowledgment & respect from the villain. Meg Ryan: there is a difference between acting & impersonation. She did a very good impersonation, but all the Meg Ryan tics leaked through. I really love boxing & the more that the viewer understands about technique & why certain things are right or wrong, the better the movie is. If a movie doesn’t do that, then the sport could be about anything. Boxing should have played a more central role so we could understand why it was so important to the characters.
