I loved Rise of the Guardians though I would say that secular families may prefer it to Christian families because of some pagan implications. Regardless I think that it is a perfect movie for kids and adult. The movie has a solid story even though in the opening minutes, I correctly guessed Jack Frost’s back story, but I have no idea what the other guardians’ back stories are and look forward to sequels. I am not surprised that Guillermo del Toro is the executive producer because Rise of the Guardians has the right mix of fantasy and real world consequences, which was largely absent and my problem with The Adventures of Tintin. By reinventing and somewhat militarizing well known good characters instead of having a treacly bowl of mush about good versus evil, it emphasizes the high stakes and the importance of an interior life, the center, instead of disregarding or minimizing it.
