Riddick

Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

Director: David Twohy

Release Date: September 6, 2013

Where to Watch

Pitch Black is one of my favorite movies. I hated Chronicles of Riddick. Riddick’s first half hour felt like an apology for the second installment, and then the majority of the film felt like a return to its roots with a medley of monsters and mercenaries. Riddick has a stark beauty missing in most action films and is a perfect sequel for Pitch Black, but you can’t see Riddick without Pitch Black. If you like the genre of monster sci-fi film-think Alien with less academic subtext or are a Vin Diesel fan, Riddick is a must see. Cheers to casting Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica fame. Warning: CGI animals get hurt & rape attempts are a theme.
