Where to Watch

Remembering the Artist, Robert De Niro, Sr. rubbed me the wrong way because of one scene. Robert DeNiro dismisses his mother’s paintings because she had to be practical. Oy, why did she feel the need to do the hard daily raising of her children? But his father was magical: he took him to the movies; he was a great artist; he was tortured by who he was as a person; it is his son’s duty to herald his father, care for his artistic ambitions and make him get the greatness that he didn’t get in life. Cheers to all the artists who don’t get heralded and make better and more timeless art such as Robert DeNiro’s mom who made, ahem, Raging Bull’s Robert DeNiro. I want a documentary about the people who do the boring work, the drudgery, the ordinary moments.
