Refusenik is one of those documentaries that simultaneously makes you feel while learning. How maddening it must be to be persecuted for being yourself and forced into unemployment or political exile camps, but forced to stay in a country because the country claims that you are valued. I loved the grass roots, international flavor to their revolution, especially considering the limited technological tools available at that time. I can’t imagine what it was like for one couple separated for twelve years before they could spend time together yet they are still together and did not grow apart. I hope that all viewers can extrapolate lessons from Refusenik such as nothing is impossible.
