Even though the underlying concept & narrative technique of different characters intersecting over a great span of time & distance over a central point has been done before, other than one weak segment (the one involving the hedonistic aristocrat) & despite many cliches, The Red Violin held my interest even though I predicted most of the plot twists. Great cast and truly unique part is how the film reprised the scene that takes place at the latest point from several characters’ POV and how each character is connected to the past….or not. Reminded me of that final scene in the Usual Suspects.
Warning: if you absolutely cannot watch a film where a character uses tarot cards, then skip this movie because you will not like it.
