Ragnarok is an extremely old-fashioned, tasteful, extremely conventional action adventure family-friendly film. It is nice to remember that not all foreign films are deep meditations on life and death and meaning. If Steven Spielberg was born in Norway and just starting out today, instead of making Jurassic Park, he would make Ragnarok. Ignore all the descriptions about apocalypse and a clash of the gods, which is what attracted me to Ragnarok. Like all disaster or monster movies, Ragnarok focuses on a family broken by tragedy and by the end, that family survives a gauntlet of dangers to grow stronger and become whole again. Other than a few welcome gender norm subversive action plot twists, Ragnarok is an ultimately forgettable movie that you can easily watch to be entertained, but not a must see.
