Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension is more of a sequel to Paranormal Activity 3, which is a prequel to 1 and 2, than the fourth installment. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension follows a different family. The daughter has sparked the interest of the coven. Basically the same demonic shenanigans occur except this family must be Christmas Catholics because they at least own crucifixes and a Bible. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension uses a big reveal from Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones as an important plot device, which is probably the most interesting distinction from the first four movies. Otherwise Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension feels like a limp retread of the previous installments. Thankfully Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension is supposed to be the final entry of the franchise.
SPOILERS
I found Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension frustrating because we finally get a show down between good and evil and good is represented by a single priest who got taken out by a child that bites. People who battle demons usually have way more experience and bring more people. And now Toby is preparing to become human to fulfill a prophecy in Revelations. Then what is the point of Hunter? Wasn’t Toby supposed to possess him? Or is Hunter just a member of the army? Who knows and who cares anymore? Not the people who make the franchise. They quit. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension is severely anti-climactic.
Side note & fun fact: Olivia Taylor Dudley, who plays the aunt in Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, is also the anti-Christ in The Vatican Tapes so Toby better watch his back!
