I love films that seem to feature a well-rounded, normal woman, and then it turns out that she only exists to supplement the actual main male character’s story line and ultimately doesn’t matter at all except what she did to make his life better. Oh wait, no, I hate those movies. One Day has so many promising and realistically charming moments, but ultimately the penultimate moment in Em’s life was so obviously coming and reminded me of Meet Joe Black that it made me retroactively hate the entire film. I have no idea if I would have the same reaction to the novel. Watch it, but stop when you start thinking, “Wait, is insert cliche moment going to happen.” Also I preferred Ian, especially his last meeting with Dexter so there!
