Where to Watch

Night of the Creeps is a better movie than probably its creators even hoped that it could be. Night of the Creeps not only knowingly pays homage to numerous B movie genres such as slasher, alien invasion and zombie movies, but it does something that most spoof movies don’t do. Night of the Creeps is not a mere homage movie without a plot. Night of the Creeps successfully creates its own compelling story that spans different time periods, focuses on intergenerational characters, prioritizes character development and uses oneiric narrative techniques. The special effects are dated-intentionally so, but it did not detract from me enjoying the movie. I am not usually heavily invested in a character’s well being in a B movie, but in Night of the Creeps, when a character died, I actually cared, which is a testament to the quality of this film. Night of the Creeps subtly slipped pathos into the humor without being heavy-handed or treating the audience like idiots (looking at you Chris Nolan). Night of the Creeps is a must see unless you absolutely can’t stand the genre or dated special effects.
