Where to Watch

Mr. & Mrs. Smith uses physical, literal violence and espionage as an elaborate metaphor for the psychological violence and daily unspoken words that create distance between a couple. As they recognize the true identity of the spouse and honestly express their frustrations with each other by literally trying to kill each other, they rekindle what they originally felt for each other. Is it a bastardization of a remarriage comedy? Paging Stanley Cavell! I love Angelina Jolie and demand that she become the next Catwoman. I didn’t hate Brad Pitt in it so I guess that he was great. I now understand why Kerry Washington got cast as the lead in Scandal. I was not always comfortable with watching a real life couple play a fictional couple essentially abusing the other person even though it was done in the right spirit. The blue screen special effects are not aging well. Felt like it would be the perfect accompaniment for This is 40 for a Hollwood marriage themed movie marathon.
