Ignore the description which sounds trite & awful. Middle of Nowhere is a sweet, little independent movie that shows characters at the threshold of life. No, it is not a coming of age story, but more like a reconciliation story so they can go forward and one day come of age. Uninhibited acting by the two leads, particularly Anton Yelchin, and nothing terribly cliche or teen romp/afterschool special tropes happen except perhaps for a few seconds before the characters keep living. A really touching must see. When did Susan Sarandon become the go to actress for irresponsible single mothers?
