Where to Watch

Thank God that I never saw Made until after Jon Favreau directed Elf, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Cowboys & Aliens and Chef otherwise I would have never watched any of those films. Made takes all the good will gleaned from Swingers then mercilessly stomps it into the ground. Too much Vince Vaughn is a bad thing, and that may explain why he had to pair up with Owen Wilson. The best part of Made is the relationship between Favreau’s character and a kid, a fact that he must have recognized based on Chef’s success. Made’s story does not make any sense if you think about if for one second. It is one of those Rube Goldbergian wannabe gangster movies. The movie gives all the actors a chance to live out their childhood fantasy about being tough. By the end of the movie, the characters grow up and decide that maybe it isn’t so awesome to be a gangster. Best part of the film is a small sedate cameo uncredited role by Sam Rockwell. Apparently only one person gets to be flamboyant on screen, and Vaughn had sucked all the oxygen from every room so Rockwell had to be subtle.
