Luke and Brie Are on a First Date’s last 20 minutes are the best part of the movie, but without the first bland, realistic & unbelievably awkward 56 minutes of the movie which detail a spectacularly awful date, I don’t think that the last 20 minutes would have made such a huge impact. Honestly, if I was on this date, I would have bounced in the first few minutes, but the point of the movie is how people respond to being insecure in unfamiliar social situations: exhibiting hostility, creating distractions, getting drunk, revealing the insecurity, fleeing, engaging in superficialities, making vague future plans, sharing goals and general platitudes that are not really believed by the one uttering them.
