Love on the Run was disappointing. Mainly consisted of flashbacks of prior 3 movies. A good concept & clever narrative experiment with using flashbacks (when we have NOT seen them in prior movies) to explain what happened & other people’s opinions, but in the end, felt cliche & overtly Freudian whereas prior films were more subtle about Antoine’s mommy & childhood issues. Sigh. No one is perfect. With that said, Collette was best part of movie & perhaps Truffaut’s only mistake was not making her the sole focus of movie with Antoine as tertiary character.
