The Longest Yard is Cool Hand Luke with football and a happier ending. Unsurprisingly the original is far superior to the remake, but I couldn’t get the awful Adam Sandler remake out of my head. It didn’t help that the beginning reminded me of Ray Rice’s candid camera moment, and the sadistic guards did nothing to help me escape reality. It was nice to see Bernadette Peters. RIP Richard Kiel. I wish that I had seen the original version first because I think that I still have PTSD from Sandler’s abomination. Oh well, not my cup of tea at any rate because the majority of the second half actually involved football, but I can see why people loved The Longest Yard. I would recommend it to sports or 70s movie lovers.
