Where to Watch

The Lion in Winter makes Scandal seem like a comedy. I haven’t seen House of Cards or similar contemporary popular treacherous political machination series, but if you like them, then you need to set an evening aside to take a look at this classic. The acting is magnificent. Five words: Antony Hopkins as supporting actor! Katherine Hepburn makes Mellie seem like an amateur. For ultimate viewing pleasure, see Becket then The Lion in Winter because Peter O’Toole plays Henry II in both movies. The Lion in Winter is clearly the better movie, but O’Toole’s reprisal of his role, but at a later stage in life, was magnificent. Probably not much historical accuracy, but if Christmas is awkward at your house, you’ll really enjoy this film.
