Where to Watch

I am generally a sports atheist, but I will watch a documentary about sports if I enjoy the work of the people involved such as Ken Burns’ Baseball or Spike Lee’s Jim Brown: All American. Out of all sports, I actually don’t mind basketball, but it was still a huge mistake for me to watch this one! Basically a game, out of context, solely focused on Bryant with Bryant doing the voice over. Some how, Lee found a way to make sports more mind numbingly boring for me. A true basketball or Bryant fan would probably love Kobe Doin’ Work. I think that Lee was going for an analogy with jazz and deconstructing the complexity of rapid movement, but in the end, I think that he inadvertently revealed Bryant’s taste for scratching, biting & smaller opponents.
