Reminded me of the old school Shakespeare productions that I used to see on tv as a child as opposed to the extremely realistic settings or recasting in different time period productions that are more prolific. Actors speak to the camera. The sets seem a bit two dimensional, but the acting is pure and powerful. I wouldn’t say that King Lear is a joy to watch because it is one of the best tragedies in existence, but it is amazing how different scenes take on different meanings as I get older.
