Downloaded is a documentary about Napster, an Internet digital media file sharing program that had an immediate impact on the music industry. I actually lived through and remembered this period and how revolutionary Napster was. Initially Downloaded seemed interesting when it started with the creator’s humble Bedford origins, but ultimately Downloaded was organized poorly. Downloaded should have started with a brief history of the music industry then discussed Napster’s origins and impact because when the documentary did discuss the history, it felt like backtracking instead of progressing. Downloaded discussed how Napster worked, but there should have been more clips to show how it worked. By the end of Downloaded, I dismissed the documentary as horrifically brotastic as a panel of the men behind Napster shared their thoughts. By the end of Downloaded, you will be rooting for the fuddy, duddy music industry.
