I Am Dina is a really primal foreign film without subtitles. A dash of stark magical realism, cruel unforgiving connections, a contest between money or gender & living revolutionary lives with strict boundaries of society. Set in the unfamiliar past for American audiences, this film fits no tropes & is fascinatingly disturbing. What is better: not to fear death or fear it because one finally has something to live for. Not explicit, but also not for those with delicate sensibilities. Not a masterpiece, but perhaps parts of it are.
