Where to Watch

Crowsnest ended up in my queue because it is a found footage movie, but it really has little to nothing going for it so skip it. It starts on one loser bag’s birthday. His girlfriend got him a camera so he has to chronicle everything. The next day, five unlikeable people go on a road trip: two couples and the sister of one of the girlfriends. Honestly, I have no idea what superior form of guilt trip or dirt was hanging over the sister’s head to force her to spend a weekend with these wretched people. I would not have coffee with them. They are the kind of people that are always drunk or high, not because it is fun, but because they can’t stand themselves or each other’s company. I suspect that the majority of Crowsnest was improvised because the sister rants about the Bible, sin and death, but there is sadly no correlation with her rant and the rest of the movie other than everyone, but the sister, deserves nothing but the worst. Someone get that sister to another movie where her foreboding won’t go to waste. Naturally they go to this creepy place in the woods to get cheap beer. Evil shenanigans ensue complete with black long hair girls dressed in white nightgowns even though it is daytime.
Crowsnest is a cross between Duel and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre with RVs and killers who are less technologically advanced. Of course, this development makes it the perfect time to explore romantic relationship issues because you guys were not already fragmented enough. This story development reminded me of other found footage movies with sudden love triangles such as A Night in the Woods, which was worse, and Hollow, which was way better, but by the end, Crowsnest tries to be more like Cloverfield as one character shows who he is really willing to endanger himself for. The rapidly diminishing five lack even a modicum of common sense so they are soon plagued with car troubles, getting lost in the woods and lack of cell phone reception. Why are they still videotaping? They want to have proof for the cops. Bwahahahahahaha! If the cops haven’t noticed bloody body parts on the side of the road, I think that all the footage in the world won’t help them. Crowsnest is a hot mess that you don’t need to see.
